The debate between vaping and traditional smoking has been a topic of discussion in recent years. Both have their own benefits and risks that must be considered.
When vaping there is no combustion of tobacco nor is nicotine smoked directly as occurs with cigarettes.
According to a text by Michael Blaha, director of clinical research at the Johns Hopkins Ciccarone Center for the Prevention of Heart Disease, e-cigarettes are potentially less harmful because they contain fewer toxic chemicals than a cigarette. To this we add the advantages that they do not emit odors and do not leave the sensation of tobacco in the mouth, the message becomes more powerful, since they are promoted as smokeless products. Blaha further explains that regular cigarettes contain around 7,000 chemicals, many of which are toxic.
With what is known so far, “there is almost no doubt that vaping exposes you to fewer toxic chemicals than smoking traditional cigarettes.”
ADVANTAGES:
Refillable pods can offer several health benefits compared to disposables or traditional cigarettes:
- Reduction of harmful substances: By not involving the combustion of tobacco, refillable pods can reduce exposure to harmful chemicals.
- Nicotine control: Refillable pods allow you to regulate the level of nicotine, which can be beneficial for people who are trying to quit smoking.
- Help Quitting Smoking: Like other vaping devices, refillable pods can be a useful tool for those trying to quit smoking.
- Less Harmful: Some studies suggest that vaping may be less harmful than smoking traditional cigarettes since it does not involve burning tobacco, reducing exposure to harmful chemicals.
RISKS:
Although they are very new products on the market and there are no long-term studies yet, there is some research on the possible effect that aerosols have on the people who use them.
• Nicotine Addiction: Although vaping may be less harmful than traditional cigarettes, it can still result in nicotine addiction.
• Health Effects: Vaping can have negative effects on lung and cardiovascular health, and more research is needed to fully understand these risks.
ADVANTAGES:
It is important to mention that smoking tobacco has few, if any, health benefits. However, some people find that smoking can have temporary benefits, such as reducing stress or increasing concentration.
RISKS:
• Serious Diseases: Tobacco smoking is directly linked to several serious diseases, including lung cancer, heart disease and COPD.
• Nicotine Addiction: As with vaping, smoking tobacco can result in a strong addiction to nicotine.
We must keep in mind that traditional smoking or electronic cigarettes have their own risks and advantages. It is important for each individual to do their own research and make informed decisions about their health.
